Amazon just launched a new sale on a ton of Pokémon DVDs. If you’ve been looking to add some physical discs to your collection, right now is a pretty good time to do so before most Black Friday sales actually start.
If you were hoping for a collection of Blu-rays here, the bad news is that those don’t even exist for some of the earlier seasons. The later seasons have received Blu-ray releases of course, but those don’t appear to be on sale just yet. The only good Pokémon Blu-ray deal right now is actually a remaster of the first season.
The Blu-ray edition of this season is definitely the way to go if you’re looking for the highest possible quality. DVDs can only get you 480p resolution, so the animation looks much sharper with the upgrade. That being said, the Blu-ray edition only contains the first 52 episodes of the Indigo League arc compared to the full 78 episodes you get with the DVD.
There’s a Massive Blu-ray Movie Collection Releasing in December
For those who are holding out for the Blu-rays, it’s worth noting that there is a 24-movie Blu-ray collection that comes in a Pokéball you can preorder right now. It’s $400 of course, but it doubles as an awesome display item for any shelf. It’s set to release on December 22, 2026.
This Blu-ray collection is an Amazon Exclusive, so you’ll only be able to find it there while supplies last. It’s also labeled as a limited-edition Blu-ray, which indicates that it could potentially go out of stock before the release date.
Should You Wait for Black Friday?
These deals are pretty good right now, but it isn’t even Black Friday right now. Amazon hasn’t announced it’s official sale dates just yet, but they traditionally kick off the best Blu-ray and DVD deals closer to Thanksgiving. So with that in mind, you may want to wait a couple more weeks to buy.
Amazon is overall the best place to buy Blu-rays at a discount during Black Friday. It’s there that you’ll usually find the lowest price and the retailer will sometimes have BOGO promotions that multiply the savings.
