The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console and accessories have already sold out at most major US and UK retailers, not long after preorders went live, and mere minutes in some select cases.
Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop all opened preorders for the $519.99 special-edition Switch 2 console, $99.99 Pro Controller, and $39.99 Carrying Case shortly after Nintendo’s dedicated Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. Demand was clearly high, with all three products quickly becoming unavailable.
Amazon is currently the only major US retailer yet to open preorders, despite having listings for the console already live (see above). That could make it the next major opportunity to pick up the Zelda 40th Anniversary hardware at its regular retail price. We’d recommend setting it up as an auto-buy, or adding it to your wishlist for ease of access.
The sell out has also already led to inflated resale prices, with scalpers listing the special-edition Switch 2 console on eBay for between $700 and $900. That’s a significant markup over its $519.99 retail price, and these listings have appeared almost immediately after preorders went live.

The limited-edition console and accessories were announced alongside preorders for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Switch 2.
Thankfully, Ocarina of Time has been fairly easy to get hold of so far, which is great news for anyone who wants to pick up one of the physical editions featuring the limited-run “textured foil” cover.
The special packaging is only available while supplies last, though, so don’t hang around if that’s the version you’re after.
