Amid Labor Day sales this month, Walmart’s “Bricktember” sale event has been an absolute treat for LEGO fans. It’s full of big discounts on plenty of different sets, including some that just came out this year. The LEGO Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 set is among the latter, having only just released this April, and is currently down to its lowest price yet at the retailer of $150.
Now, in order to see this price, you’ll have to add the set to your cart first. Then, you’ll get a good look at the deal. Overall, you’re saving $29.99 compared to paying its full price of $179.99. That’s not too bad at all, especially considering how recently it launched.
If you already have the Mario & Standard Kart set and have been hoping to pick-up his brother’s build to have alongside him, this is a great time to grab it. With 2,234 pieces, it certainly seems like a fun one to assemble, creating a posable Luigi behind the wheel of the Mach 8 kart. It also comes with a display stand that can show off the Mach 8 at dynamic angles, so you can make it look like it’s zooming around in a Mario Kart race.
When building this set for himself, writer Kevin Wong did notice and write in his We Build that while the “Mario set was an innovation–the first of its kind–the Luigi builds off the reliable template of its predecessor.” He continues on to say that, “We enjoyed the Luigi set for its visual appeal, but the build experience is redundant,” though if you’ve “never built the Mario set and just want the Luigi set, none of this should matter. But if you plan on having both, the comparison is inevitable.”
It’s also important to note that this build is one of the LEGO sets geared towards adults, possibly due to having a more detailed assembly, higher piece count, and ultimately being meant as a display piece. However, that doesn’t mean kids aren’t allowed to get their hands on it. Just make sure someone older is around to help them out with piecing it all together.
