Amazon has brought back its popular 3 for $33 4K Blu-ray sale and it’s filled with films aimed at dads. With Father’s Day coming up on June 21, this sale is a perfect time to pick up a few movies for your dad’s collection (and maybe for yourself). While Amazon hasn’t exactly stated that this sale is Father’s Day-related, the movies included here look eerily similar to Gruv’s Father’s Day sale that launched earlier this week.
There are a total of 39 movies included in this promotion at the moment, all of which I’ve listed in the carousel below. I’ve ordered the movies loosely based on what I think are the best and the worst offerings available, so apologies if you’re a huge Black Adam fan because I went ahead and put that in last. If you want to browse the sale directly from Amazon, you can check out the full sale here.
3 for $33 4K Blu-ray Sale at Amazon
There are some excellent movies on this list, but the sale is not nearly as stacked as it was back in January. And while it lacks some of the truly great movies that have gotten the 4K treatment over the last few years, there are still some solid movies here if you’re looking for movies your dad absolutely loves. Waterworld, for example, is one of those movies I probably never would have seen if not for my dad randomly having it on in the background growing up. The same goes for other classics like Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry and Burt Reynold’s Smokey and the Bandit. These are all films worthy of a 4K collection.
There are a few notable modern movies sprinkled in here as well. Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune was the rebirth of a truly epic franchise. It may not be as good as Dune 2, but it was still an excellent movie and there’s a third installment coming later this year. There’s also Nobody, which I thought was a surprisingly good movie. Bob Odenkirk does a great job playing the unassuming badass.
Should you wait for Prime Day sales?
Amazon’s 3 for $33 promotion is always one of the best times to buy 4K movies, so if you see three movies you want to buy right now, you should absolutely go for it. That being said, Amazon Prime Day is taking place later this month and has traditionally had some of the best deals on Blu-rays of the year. It’s highly likely we’ll see some sort of ‘3 for 2’ sale that combines 4K movies, books, and vinyls as Prime Day approaches. Amazon also tends to offer some really good discounts on box sets and newer movies during this event, so it’s admittedly a better time to shop for movies.
Amazon Prime Day kicks off on June 23 this year, just a few days after Father’s Day. If you’re hoping for a better selection of movies on sale, that’s when you should do the bulk of your shopping.
