IGN Is Hosting a Free Early Screening of House of the Dragon’s Season 3 Premiere

Season 3 of HBO’s House of the Dragon is almost here, and you’ll have the chance to see it for free before anyone else.

IGN is hosting a special screening on Thursday, June 18 at the Regal Times Square in New York City, three days before its premiere on HBO on June 21. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. before the screening begins at 7:30 p.m., and you can claim your ticket by clicking on this RSVP link and filling out the required information to get a QR code.

If you’re interested, don’t wait to RSVP. QR codes will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. If the RSVP link above takes you to a page that says registration is closed, it’s because there are no more available spots. And if you want to come with a group, you all need to RSVP separately. Also, be aware that receiving a QR code does not necessarily guarantee you a seat.

The screening will have some special guests, meaning the exact number of open seats is not set in stone. Admittance to the theater will also be first-come, first-served. Once the theater’s capacity is reached, no more people will be able to get in. So if you want to ensure you get a seat, you should get there early. Don’t wait until right before the screening begins.

The screening will be of the first episode of Season 3, which picks up right where Season 2 left off as full-scale civil war rages within the Targaryen line of succession. Want a quick refresher of where things stand in this intricate tale? We’ve got you covered. From here on, there will be spoilers for House of the Dragon’s first two seasons. So turn back if you still have some catching up to do.

The war traces back to Season 1, when King Viserys named his daughter, Rhaenyra, his heir. Following his death, Hand of the King Otto Hightower and Queen Alicent usurped the throne and named Aegon, Rhaenyra’s half-brother, the new king.

The great houses of Westeros were forced to choose sides: Team Green for Aegon or Team Black for Rhaenyra. The conflict became personal after the death of Queen Rhaenyra’s son, Lucerys Velaryon, and his dragon, Arrax, at the hands of Prince Aemond and his dragon, Vhagar.

Team Black sought revenge, but it resulted in the accidental death of Aegon and Helaena’s son, Jaehaerys. At that point, civil war was inevitable, with both sides swearing vengeance against the other. With the Targaryen family split, dragon dueled against dragon. The Dance of the Dragons saw the deaths of Rhaenys and her dragon, Meleys, the wounding of Aegon, and the fatal crash of his dragon, Sunfyre. With Aegon gravely injured, Aemond became Prince Regent for Team Green while Rhaenyra recruited new dragonriders for Team Black.

By the end of Season 2, all of Westeros was mobilizing for war, both on land and at sea. Daemon gathered an army in the Riverlands, the Hightowers marched from Oldtown, the Starks marched South, and the Triarchy fleet sailed against the Velaryons. Meanwhile, Aegon secretly fled King’s Landing and Rhaenyra prepared for a war she never planned for. It all comes to a head in Season 3, full of epic clashes, political intrigue, and a struggle for power. Don’t miss this chance to see the premiere in a full theater before it airs June 21 on HBO Max.
