Nintendo just announced Switch Sports Resort during its June Direct and you can already preorder physical editions at Amazon. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort features almost all of the same games as Switch Sports, but with some notable additions. It’s a Switch 2 exclusive game that will be released on October 22, 2026.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort – Where to Buy
- Get it at Nintendo (Digital) – $49.99
As of right now, Amazon is the only place where you can preorder the physical edition of Switch Sports Resort. It’s available to preorder digitally directly from the Nintendo eShop for $49.99, but physical editions are not up for preorder there either. The price difference between the physical and digital editions of the game follow Nintendo’s new pattern of digital games costing less than their physical counterparts.
Is there a Switch 1 version?
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a Switch 2 exclusive game with no Switch 1 version planned. The game requires upgraded Joy-Con 2 controls for each of its sports and is incompatible with older hardware.
What Is Switch Sports Resort About?
If you’ve ever played Switch Sports or Wii Sports, then you already know what this game is all about. This game utilizes the upgraded Switch 2 Joy-Con controls to actively play a variety of different sports digitally. Switch Sports Resort is essentially a spiritual successor to Wii Sports Resort and features many of the same sports from that classic game. Here’s the full list of activities we saw featured in the Nintendo Direct:
The upcoming game includes new activities, such as jump roping, skateboarding, and thumb wrestling, but is missing some sports from Wii Sports Resort and Switch Sports. Some notable exclusions are soccer, sword dueling, and frisbee. Nintendo could potentially add more sports to this game in future updates, but nothing has been announced just yet.
