We’re less than a month out from the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you haven’t yet placed your preorder, here’s a good reason to do so: you can (indirectly) save $11 on a PS5 copy or $10 on an Xbox copy right now. You just have to follow a simple three-step process to do so. Let’s take a look.
The deal starts with buying a digital gift card from Newegg. Today only, you can get a $100 PlayStation Store gift card on sale for $89, or a $100 Xbox gift card on sale for $90. As luck would have it, $100 is how much the ultimate edition of Grand Theft Auto VI costs.
Step 1: Buy a Discounted Gift Card at Newegg

Make sure you use the promo codes, or you won’t get the discount on the gift card, making this all for naught. A little while after you successfully place your order, you’ll receive an email with a redeemable code for your digital gift card.
Step 2: Redeem the Gift Card

Regardless of which digital storefront you’re using to buy GTA 6, use the appropriate link above and sign into your account. Then click your avatar in the upper right of the page and select “Redeem Code” from the dropdown menu. Paste the code in there, hit enter, and now you should have $100 in your digital wallet.
Step 3: Buy GTA 6

The standard edition gets you the game, along with the Vintage Vice City Pack, and one month of GTA+. The Ultimate edition includes everything that comes in the standard edition, plus “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.”
When preorders first went live, we saw reports that way more people were buying the ultimate edition than the standard edition. That makes sense, as early preorders would mostly be made by the biggest fans, who would be the most likely to splurge on the ultimate edition. This isn’t the first time this type of deal has popped up while GTA 6 has been available for preorder. Roughly every week or two, Newegg offers similar discounts on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store gift cards. You always have to enter a promo code, and the deals always last just one day. So if you miss out this time, you’ll probably have another shot or two before the official GTA 6 release date.
If you do preorder Grand Theft Auto 6, you’ll be able to preload the game onto your PS5 or Xbox Series X|S starting on November 12. That’s a week prior to the game’s release. Then, once launch day rolls around, you’ll already have the game on your console and ready to go when start time arrives.
As a reminder: at launch, you’ll only have access to the GTA 6 campaign. Rockstar hasn’t announced when GTA Online will be available, so keep it locked on IGN for further information on that front.
