Mick Gordon Plans to Take His Upcoming Doom Concert Performance On the Road

Award-winning composer and skull-shattering guitar shredder Mick Gordon has given an update on the scheduled live performances of his Doom and Doom Eternal soundtracks, explaining in an interview with IGN at PAX Australia this past weekend that his appearance as headliner at the UK’s RADAR festival in 2027 isn’t merely intended as a one-off.

“The two that we’ve announced are this headline show for RADAR, which is going to be on August 1, 2027,” said Gordon. “That’s going to be me with a band and a live orchestra playing music from Doom and Doom Eternal and some other stuff. Then a few days later I’m going to be in the Czech Republic playing the Brutal Assault Festival, which is in a medieval castle, which is so metal. That’s with bands like Children of Bodom, Knocked Loose, and Humanity’s Last Breath. It’s like a really, really incredible 25,000-people metal festival.”

That all sounds great, but what if you happen to be one of the millions of Doom fans that can’t make it to the UK or Europe in order to catch either of these two shows? Well, the good news is you might still get your chance to experience Mick’s heavy metal magnificence on a live stage near you sometime in the not too distant future.

“[After the RADAR show was announced] I instantly started getting offers from the European metal festival circuit,” said Gordon. “My agency and I are talking about doing this for the next two years. There are a number of [events] across the whole world that we’re hoping to take this show [to]. So there’s going to be a lot of news coming on that front.”

Gordon seems extremely excited to perform popular Doom tracks like Rip & Tear, BFG Division, and At Doom’s Gate in front of a live festival audience, and promises an experience unlike a typical concert performance of a videogame soundtrack.

“For a long time I’ve wanted to take what I find really exciting about videogame music and marry it with what I find really exciting about a live rock and metal show,” said Gordon. “I know there are people that have done [live performances] where [the audience] will sit down and wear nice clothes and listen to [their] favourite music played by an orchestra, and that’s fantastic, don’t get me wrong. But nobody has done this thing where you have this massive circle mosh pit with videogame music.”

“Through an incredible set of wonderful, universe-grifting circumstances, I found myself best positioned to be the one [to deliver that experience].”

In the meantime you can get a fresh dose of Gordon’s heavy metal mayhem on the soundtrack to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, which is out on October 14 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming at a later date.
